Plot: Diane Keaton stars as Daphne Wilder, a mother whose love knows no bounds or boundaries. She is the proud mom of three daughters: stable psychologist Maggie (Graham), sexy and irreverent Mae (Perabo...( read more read more... )) and insecure, adorable Milly (Moore)-who, when it comes to men, is like psychotic flypaper. In order to prevent her youngest from making the same mistakes she did, Daphne decides to set Milly up with the perfect man. Little does Milly know, however, that her mom placed an ad in the online personals to find him. Comic mayhem unfolds as Daphne continues to do the wrong thing for the right reasons...all in the name of love. In a hilarious battle of strong wills, the mother-daughter dynamic is tested in all its fierce, wacky complexity. The girls help Daphne finally discover the truths and impossibilities of motherly love, all while trying to answer the questions: where does it begin and where should it end?

Acting from scale 1-5 is 5.
Story is 3.5 because it is still lacking something though it is really funny.
    Directing would be 4.
    So overall would be 4.5..

An overprotective mother tries to control the lives of her three daughters, with their best intentions in mind. A cheesy rom com that had the power to make me tear up. Good cast of ladies.

I love Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore in this movie. Not only their acting but the fact that I totally imagined them as mother and daughter, they pulled it off well

Another newer favorite. I don't care what people say Mandy Moore is a great actress. I guess I just love Diane Keaton movies these past couple of years. The cakes looked so good. Made me want to have another wedding just for the cakes.

The mother in this movie drove me nuts! I just wanted to scream at her most of the movie! However the movie did prove that Mother does not always know best! The movie was cute.

    Not that good...
The only one good thing about this movie is its being an example what a movie should not be. The mum played by Diane Keaton is acting really childish, there is no sense in what she's saying. It seems that her only problem was lack of sex, its indifferent for her, what man is with her daughter, until there is one. All the dialogs are unreal, because nobody actually listens to others, everyone is just shouting out loud.
The Mandy Moore character doesn't realize, what she is doing. She talks like a 5-year-old, doesn't bother much about future. Why does she think a musician is a good father? Most of the time his dad is babysitting his son, who is making comments about people's penises and vaginae in public?

mother-daughter movie...touching...kinda fun, the way she's sleeping with two guys, without appearing much like a dirty whore...(well that is if u like to play). kinda felt some pity for the other guy. let's just say, that she's kinda lucky, the other guy had her still in the end.

I adore Diane Keaton specifically in romantic comedies. She is a natural comedic communicator. Her antics are hilarious, but not in a slapstick "over-the-top sort of way. I watch this movie over and over just to see her do her thing.

Just a few bearable moments otherwise a ridiculous & predictable movie, And Keaton & Moore are really annoying, why? Because I Said So

The reason this is a favorite is purely personal. I grew up in a household with 3 girls a powerfully controlling yet good intentioned mother and a father who spent so much time in the man cave, he pratically "left" my mother alone to raise us.

It is one of the best comedy i've seen this year. I really want to kill that mom during the movie. Why does try to control everything even though it's none of her business. But that's the problem with ALL the moms. They luv their kids too much and they never learned the lesson of "Let Go". That's why i talk my mom to send me to boarding school, even though my boyfriend can't stand my mom. and why is that guy with the guitar dress like Justin Timberlake?

Dreadful. I wish I could tell this film to shut the fuck up.

It's... beyond belief. It's a 100-minute cringe-a-thon of a rom-com with zero wit, terrible writing and Diane Keaton's absolute worst performance. Because I Said So is an embarassingly stupid movie-- one aimed at women and sold as nothing but a pleasant diversion, it is anything but. If your idea of a good time is such a train wreck in which every scene is punctuated with a bottle of wine or a ginormous cake falling on the floor, lap it up, but I won't let a dud with such moronic values pass by unnoticed.

Where to start? Jesus, the romance in this film is so mechanical and obvious it burns through your eyeballs. All the bullshit on display, the unholy contrivances and the fact that everyone (including the handsome struggling musician) has a stylish pad is just nauseating. There is no truthful ring whatsoever to any depiction of any relationship, unless you live in a zombie suburb. This is committee-filmmaking, assembly-line crap that modern women eat, shit and forget barely a few days after.

And, oh, God, the characters-- they're practically made out of 0s and 1s. Their actions are gleefully inhuman, and the reaction to those actions are exponentially stupider. And portraying those 'characters' is a handful of generally tolerable performers, who do give some effort into things. But it's... useless.

This is, to put it plainly, a god-awful comedy-- can you imagine a movie so fucking fake and so fucking LOUD, dictated by magazine fashion over common sense or emotional honesty?

If you can't, well, you're an idiot, and this product was designed for you.

Poignant, sweet and at times overly dramatic, this film resonates in the hearts of all daughters who've experienced the at-times smothering love of a mother.

I usually like Mandy Moore's films so that was my reason for wanting to see this one. The cast was also pretty impressive. Cute romance film that was as I would expect it to be. Mandy Moore gave a decent performance, the best scenes coming from when she as arguing with her mother, played by Diane Keaton who did a very good job as the obsessive mother. Piper Perabo and Lauren Graham did a good job as well to make up the three sisters. Although they really don't look alike they did pull off the unconventional family reasonably well. Gabriel Macht did a really good job as well. I can't say the same for Tom Everett Scott, mainly because I don't really like him anyway, but his performance was weak and let the others in his scenes down. Overall not bad and probably one to check out if you like romance films.

Diane Keaton plays the overbearing psychotic mother that only exists in Hollywood, but when women sit round with their own mums they are quick to point out how "true" it all is. Keaton a fine actress but this character needs to be shot in the fucking face. Scratch that she needs to be tortured, maybe a movie cross-over with Saw. Not only is she the most irritating character since Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element she is painfully stereotyped. Watch her struggle with technology it's a hoot. Luckily in the second half she calms down a lot, one scene is even quite sweet where she doesn't talk. HURRAH. Mandy Moore is just outsstanding, it's a great performance for a naive and broken young lass who could have come across as slutty had it not been for Moores awesome cuteness. The two male love interests are...well one's an absolute arse and the other's cool and sensitive with a hyperactive son. Ooh I wonder who will make the final lovey speech in front of strangers at the end. (It's the cool one). Annoying, adhering to a strict formula and occasionally funny. Yep it's a rom-com.

There wasn't much to this movie. It was alright. I wouldn't say it was bad. It had nothing too special about it. But easy to watch, which makes it something good when you have nothing better to do but don't want to watch something that is full of comedy and events and just can't keep up sort of stuff.
There were afew laughs here and there but pretty much a normal kind of movie. I wouldn't favourite it, or recommend it like crazy to someone ahaaha.

what touched me the most is that the Mother-daughter relationship is so much like my relationship with my MOm so it was really funny imaginning myself in Mandy Moore shoes !!
