Death Race Gratuitous. In every sense of the word. This is probably the most stereotypical action movie I have ever seen, fast cars, loud guns, big explosions, beautiful women and "witty" one-liners. All that being said, it was, by no means, a bad movie. The plot was fairly weak and all the twists were revealed (if not in the trailer) in the first 30 minutes. There was also more gore than I expected, most of it was funny, or at least shockingly amusing, though I found when some of the female characters died, it was just rather horrific. Of course, to be fair, what does one expect seeing Death Race? I mean, it delivers what it promises, intense action, mild comedy and violence. I also liked the touch of the US economy have fallen apart in 2012. Over all, it has it's flaws, in that it's a mindless action movie, however, on the up side, it IS a mindless action movie. Death Race The great thing about this movies was all of the gore and action from very early on in the movie. You get a nice quick character background of Jason Stathman's lead and then it merges right where it needs to be. I highly recommend seeing it. fb730660474 Aug 29, 2008

Death Race The Running Man for present day brings loud action scenes, senseless violence and many witty lines, but tha's what I was in mood for and it delivered. *~* WARNING: May Contain Spoilers *~* Set up in the near future, the economy is totally destroyed, crime rates are at an all time high and the nation's prison system is set up on private corporations. Jason Statham, another Hollywood hottie I'm a sucker for (I think it's the accent), plays a man who is set up for murder from a Corporate Prison warden, all for the glory of television and the all mighty dollar. To get his release papers he has to win the death race which is on-road race set up like a video game; picking up armor and ammo on the street by flashing markers and the goal of being the first over the finish line, as well as coming in alive. Jensen (Jason Statham), finds out that most men that are in prison have been set up all for this race and he also find out the true murder of his wife is bringing an uncontrollable rage inside him. Yeah, this movie didn't have a truly deep plot, but it was still good for the entertainment that I was wanting at the time. There's a lot of action, eye-candy for both men and women and fast cars, something that is good for non-thinking, just go out and have a good time night. There are some really great shots and camera angles in the movie, but there are also a lot of fast paced camera movements that can make a motion sickness person extremely ill, but they did it for the purpose of making you feel that you were on the race track with them. This movie isn't a bad one watching with a group of friends on weekend, but it's not needed to see it on the large screen. If you can cope with some gore and harsh language (there's no sex scenes btw) and you enjoyed Fast and Furious movies, you'll have a good time watching this. fb739761982 Aug 29, 2008
The House Bunny Anna Faris just may be the funniest woman on the planet, and it is because of her God-given comic skills that this film works as well as it does. Honestly, the movie is crap, and it's to the credit of everyone onscreen that they realized this and thus tried to compensate by making the absolute most of every single line and cut-away. Nothing, and I mean nothing, in this film is thrown away. The script, let's face it, is not as good as Legally Blonde (the same writers wrote that film), but the one-liners are priceless: "The eyes are the nipples of the face," anyone? Bottom line? Traitor I really enjoyed myself with this film. Cheadle delivers another impressive performance while Pearce keeps things interesting as a supporting actor. I did have some issues with the film: 1. I wish the scuffle between Horn and Clayton would have been more intense, 2. What happened to the spy in FBI?, 3. If Horn drove around the US giving bombs to other terrorists how did they all end up on the same bus? and 4. How did the number of bombs shrink from 30 to 4? The House Bunny Cookie-cutter romantic comedy. She teaches them how to be sexier, but in the end, everyone learns a lesson about themselves, and the girls get the guys. There's nothing really wrong with "The House Bunny", but you've seen it all before and done better. Death Race Cars, violence, explosions, and Joan Allen saying "cocksucker"... that alone is worth the price of admission, but if it ain't enough, check out the high octane level of carnage in a brisk 90-ish minute spectacle. Being so short, the film zooms over plot and character development.. but who cares when the action is virtually non-stop?! Death Race Well, it certainly lives up to its title. 90 minutes of all out action, coupled with the ample amounts of violence and gore make this a rather enjoyable movie to watch. Definitely not for the faint hearted so if ur of the queasy variety, stay away. The plot is solid and well thought out and Jason Statham portrays his character to perfection. Death Race Not bad, and entertaining enough. Goofy plot? Yes. Thin and semi-predictible plot points? Yes. Objectifies women? Arguable, but I'll go with yes. Outrageously violent, HELLS yes. But while it wasn't particularly oustanding, it was by no means horrible. When it all came down to it it had some of the coolest car crashes and stunts I've seen in a long while, and that was really all I was going for in the first place. Death Race Statham plays a racecar driver, turned ex-con, turned foundry worker, turned convict, turned racecar driver, in this dystopian take on car racing. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for this kind of high-octane camp. The story is, literally, a few narrative sequences strung between a demolition-derby-style race. If you want a film that will challenge you and make you think, go elsewhere--this movie is not for you. And if you saw it and were offended, then I have to ask: what were you expecting? The acting... well, there's some I guess. I lot of strutting and some acting. Love him or hate him, Statham does his part well. But he was much better in the Bank Job. The supporting cast get a bit of screen time between car crashes, most of which is doled out to Joan Allen and Ian McShane, who is a god at making exposition sound natural. Those two don't even have to try and they're hands down better than the other actors. (I know you're thinking "that's not saying much" but there it is.) This movie is based on the low-budget, Roger Corman cult film Death Race 2000 (1975), starring David Carradine. I wish I could give a comparison but I haven't seen that one since it was on SuperChannel in the early 80s. I love movies with physical effects. I like stunt driving. As fun as it is though, this is not the best I've seen lately. Traitor This film was not what I expected, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. I loved the film, and Don Cheadle is always great. The point of view of this film took a different toll, but by the ending made sense. It was daring and shocking to watch. I really enjoy the realism in its cinematography. Like the Bourne films, this type of thriller works with a documentary style of filmmaking. Traitor Cheadle plays a Sudanese-born American of strong Muslim faith, who, after a career in the US army as a Special Operations officer, becomes involved with Islamic extremists. These same extremists are being doggedly tracked by a pair of FBI agents. I found this movie very engaging. Unlike others, I didn't find it predictable. I wasn't trying to second-guess where the story was going as it was unfolding. I have to admit that I went to see this film having only seen the trailer and thought it would be a Borne Identity style, fast-paced thriller. Perhaps that's why I was more focused on the characters and less on where things were going. If you expect something fast and action-packed, you might end up disappointed. While it is a thriller, the action is comparatively minimal. I wonder how it'll compare to the new Ridley Scott-Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies". I should mention that Don Cheadle turns in another solid performance, as does the rest of the cast. It's true that most of the Muslims in this film are murderous but, given that the plot is centered around them, it isn't altogether surprising. I didn't read too much into it.
